Witness This

by Mary Meriam

Hey little girl, come by, come by, and look.
It’s time to watch your lovely sister die.
He says he wants to help, but it’s a lie.
He’ll steal her lovely life, by crook or hook.
He’s in the kitchen, acting like a cook.
He’s baking dreadful bread and poison pie.
Hey little girl, come by, come by, and look.
It’s time to watch your lovely sister die.
She’s sitting down. You see the bite she took?
Your tears mean nothing. Go ahead and cry.
Cry big fat baby tears and wave bye-bye.
She swallowed every morsel. How she shook!
Hey little girl, come by, come by, and look.
